IAFP Maurice Weber Laboratorian Award 2024, Long Beach, CA

From Weber Scientific:

“I’m pleased that Jeffrey Kornacki is the recipient of the 2024 International Association for Food Protection Maurice Weber Laboratorian Award. It is presented to an individual for outstanding contributions in the laboratory, recognizing a commitment to the development of innovative and practical analytical approaches in support of food safety.

“Dr. Kornacki is president and senior technical director of Kornacki Microbiology Solutions. He has nearly 40 years’ experience in professional food safety microbiology. He has published numerous articles on a wide variety of food microbiology topics, was an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia and Adjunct Faculty at Michigan State University, and is an editor of the long awaited 18th edition of “Standard Methods for the Examination of Dairy Products”.

“The award consists of a plaque and [an] honorarium. Unofficially, since the inception of the award in 2001, I’ve also included an antique microscope. Following is information from a descriptive write-up shared with Jeff and the Association.

“This microscope was made by James White (1824-1884) and is signed on the base “J. WHITE, GLASGOW”.” (This dates the microscope to before 1858.)”
